19 people died in California

Flood warnings from Los Angeles County to the Bay Area
The storm dumped 15 feet (4.5 m) of snow in the mountains. Flood warnings and advisories were issued across the state Saturday from Los Angeles County to the Bay Area. At the same time, Santa Cruz County of Felton in California has been flooded for the second time in a week on Saturday. Flood waters from the San Lorenzo River inundated Felton Grove, prompting emergency evacuations.
Flood in seven waterways
Meanwhile, a levee breach in the Bear Creek area of Merced in the San Joaquin Valley flooded homes and trapped animals. Authorities made arrangements to deal with the flood. The California Department of Water Resources said Friday that at least seven waterways are officially flooded. California’s Salinas River flooded roads and fields on Friday. After which 24,000 people have been urged to evacuate the area. California Governor Gavin Newsom said Saturday that he expects President Joe Biden to sign a major disaster declaration to help the state deal with the emergency.
Roads closed due to snow
Heavy snow and strong winds in the Sierra Nevada mountains have worsened conditions in some areas, causing road closures. Authorities have asked people to stay away from them. Snowfall in the Sierras had reached 21 inches as of Saturday morning, with about 10 feet already on the ground. A research center said in a Twitter post that 2-3 feet more snow is expected to fall by Monday morning. The US Drought Monitor revised its assessment Thursday to move almost the entire state out of extreme or exceptional drought.
