Washington, PTI. The United States and Japan have fully concluded their bilateral talks. Bilateral talks have taken place between US President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio. The US government said before the talks that our alliance and Japan are meeting at a historic moment for the Indo-Pacific and the world. Both the countries have issued their new statement after bilateral talks.
Continued Support for the ASEAN Approach
Both the US and Japan issued a joint statement after the bilateral talks, saying that they will continue to support ASEAN centrality and unity, as well as the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific. He also said that we are committed to strengthening the important trilateral cooperation between Japan, the Republic of Korea and the United States in security and other areas. Earlier, in a joint Oval Office media appearance, Biden said that never before has the US been closer to Japan.
Quad ready to tackle many challenges
The joint statement also said that together with Australia and India, we will ensure that the Quad is committed to benefiting the region by delivering results on global health, cyber security, climate, emerging technologies and maritime domain awareness. We are creating a force for good. Apart from this, both the countries said in their joint statement that we will work with an unbreakable bilateral relationship as our foundation. By which we will collaborate with others in the region and beyond, for the benefit of the Indo-Pacific and the world.
Japan-US alliance will work for the security of the country
Joe Biden has also talked about the security of Japan and the purpose of his organization. He said that we are modernizing our military alliance. So while America’s organizations are building on Japan’s historic increase in defense spending and a new national security strategy. Biden said the United States is fully committed to the alliance, and more importantly, it is committed to defending Japan. Biden also said that we are working closely on technical and economic issues including the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework.

Asian country prepared new security strategy
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that Japan and the United States are currently facing the most challenging and difficult security environment in recent history. Japan’s PM told that the Asian country has prepared a new national security strategy at the end of last year. Under which a strategy has been made to ensure and contribute to peace and prosperity in the region. The new national security strategy will also serve to safeguard the peace and security of Japan. He pointed out that the sole purpose of formulating a new security strategy is also to fundamentally strengthen Japan’s defense capabilities. Under which Japan can have the ability to retaliate under any circumstances. Japanese Prime Minister Kishida pointed out that Japan has increased its defense budget.
