
Delhi Police Arrested Data Entry Operator Of Ministry Of Finance For Espionage Activities
Delhi Crime News: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police on Wednesday (January 18) busted an espionage network leaking sensitive information related to the Finance Ministry. Sumit, a contractual employee working as a data entry operator, has been arrested on charges of espionage activities and providing sensitive data to foreign countries in return for money.
Delhi Police Crime Branch said that during the search of the accused, a mobile phone was recovered from his possession, which he used to share confidential information related to the Ministry of Finance. A case has been registered under the Official Secrets Act.
Suspicion of espionage before the budget
Suspicion of espionage is being raised before the budget regarding this arrest. In fact, the Finance Ministry headed by Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is ready to present the Union Budget in Parliament on 1 February. If the data related to the budget is leaked, then it can be costly in terms of its big impact on the market.
Union Finance Ministry has called a meeting
The Union Ministry of Finance has called a meeting of heads of public sector banks and financial institutions on January 19 to review the progress of various social sector schemes including Jan Dhan, Mudra, KCC and PM Swanidhi. The meeting with the Managing Directors and CEOs of Public Sector Banks is mainly to review the schemes to promote financial inclusion.
