IndiGo Flight Emergency Gate Open: Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has defended BJP leader Tejashwi Surya in the controversy over opening the emergency gate of Indigo flight. Without naming Tejashwi Surya, Scindia said, “It is necessary to look at the facts. The door was opened by him by mistake when the flight was on the ground and after all the checks the flight was allowed to take off. Apologized for that as well.”
Last month, BJP MP Tejashwi Surya opened the emergency door of an IndiGo flight after boarding it at the Chennai airport. The Congress had opened a front regarding this incident. The Karnataka Congress had said, “Tejaswi Surya is an example of what happens if an innocent child is given a free hand. The mischief of a child trying to open the emergency door of an aircraft has come to the fore. Why this joke with the lives of passengers?”

Karnataka Pradesh Congress President DK Shivakumar also attacked Tejashwi Surya, saying, “Always fly with the Congress to take off and land safely.” Meanwhile, Congress general secretary in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted, “BJP’s VIP spoiled boy! How dare the airline company complain? Is this the practice of the BJP’s ruling elite? Does it protect passengers?” Compromised? Can’t ask questions to VIPs authorized by BJP!”
