Wrestler Protest Against Wrestling Federation Of India Adamant On Changing President
Protest Against WFI President: Top wrestlers of the country have protested against the President of Wrestling Federation of India, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday (January 18). Wrestlers have accused him of sexually abusing female players. On this matter, wrestler Vinesh Phogat says that the strike will continue until the president is changed. Brij Bhushan Singh is also a BJP MP.
Indian wrestler and Olympian Vinesh Phogat says that women wrestlers face many problems, the president of the wrestling association has exploited women players. Federation forcefully bans the players so that the player cannot play. If something happens to any player, the president of the wrestling association will be responsible for it. Players like Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, who won the Olympic Games, were involved in this protest at Jantar Mantar. About two dozen wrestlers sat on strike.
What did Bajrang Punia say?
Olympian wrestler Bajrang Punia said that he wants to save wrestling from the quagmire, the players are being tortured. He said that a day or two ago rules are made which are imposed on the players. The president of the association only plays the role of coach and referee, misbehaving. Not only this, there is no help from the sponsor Tata Motors, the players feel helpless and on complaining, action is taken against the players.
What did Vinesh Phogat say?
Vinesh Phogat alleged that the special coach of the Federation sexually exploits women players in the national camp. No action is taken even after complaint. The president has also exploited many women players. A camp is organized in Lucknow so that they can exploit us in their homes, they interfere in our personal lives.
Phogat said that after the Tokyo Olympics, I complained to the PM, he said nothing would happen, but after that the association was trying to suspend me. I am in danger of life. Federation’s Assistant Secretary Vinod Tomar has assets worth crores, it should be investigated. This much wealth is not with the Olympic medalist.
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh gave clarification
On the allegations of the wrestlers, the President of the Wrestling Federation of India, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, while clarifying, said that as soon as I came to know, I did not know what the allegations were, but I immediately brought the flight ticket. The biggest allegation that Vinesh has made, is there anyone who can say that the Federation harassed any athlete? There must be someone.
He said whether he did not have any problem with the Federation for the last ten years? Issues come to the fore when new rules and regulations are brought in. No athlete has been harassed. If it has happened, I will hang myself. There is a hand of a big man in this, a hand of a big industrialist, this is a conspiracy.
