
A sexagenarian lost her life on Sunday afternoon after a swerve with her mountain bike in Chertsey, in the Lanaudière region.
Around 4:30 p.m., the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) was called to go to the scene of the swerve on federated trail 246.
“The driver would have lost control of her mountain bike and she would have ended her journey in a ditch, said SQ spokeswoman Catherine Bernard. She would then have found herself trapped under the machine. The elderly woman in her sixties was transported to a hospital center where she was unfortunately declared dead.
A relative who accompanied the victim on another ATV witnessed the tragedy.
A police officer specializing in collision investigation went to the scene to try to determine the circumstances of the accident.
