A California teacher, named teacher of the year in 2017, has been arrested in the past few days for having sex with a 16-year-old student, reports the New York Post.
Tracy Vanderhulst, 38, who teaches math at Yucaipa High School has been formally charged with child molestation following an investigation into allegations against the teacher.
The time and place of the sexual encounter were not indicated by the police, but they believe that there could be other victims.
Hired in 2013, Tracy Vanderhulst was appointed teacher of the year in 2017.
At the time, the school’s principal wrote of her that she ’embodied the teacher that so many teachers wished to become’, noting her kindness and innovative ideas.
