QUB radio and TVA Nouvelles learned that the government would have chosen Michael Sabia to occupy the highest chair in Hydro-Québec. Mr. Sabia would succeed Sophie Brochu as CEO of Crown Corporation. It was Mario Dumont who announced it exclusively into his microphone via QUB radio.
Sir. Sabia led the Caisse de dépôt et de placement du Québec from 2009 to 2020. He then held the position of Director of the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto before being appointed Deputy Minister in Chrystia Freeland’s Ministry of Finance. It would therefore be a return to Quebec for him.
Remember that Sophie Brochu left her position on April 11. Pierre Despars is currently the interim president and CEO of Hydro-Québec.
