
An 18-year-old Louisiana graduate has been missing for two days after falling overboard from a boat in the Bahamas during a graduation ceremony, school officials said.
Cameron Robbins was on a cruise to celebrate the completion of his studies at the University High Lab School in Baton Rouge when he fell from the vessel Wednesday night, a Louisiana State University spokeswoman told CNN. .
The institution is run by the university’s College of Humanities and Education. Robbins attended the school for all 13 years of his studies, Principal Kevin George told CNN affiliate WBRZ.
βHe is a special kid who has been here throughout his educational career. He is an athlete, a big boy, with a big smile, beautiful hair. Just one of those kids you’re so proud of when he walks across the stage,β George said.
“The children contacted us to ask if they could make a prayer circle. Of course we agreed. We really appreciated their initiative during this difficult time,β he continued.
The U.S. Coast Guard joined the search with Royal Bahamas Defense Force teams, the Coast Guard tweeted Thursday. Robbins reportedly fell overboard while on a sunset cruise near the capital, Nassau.
