Historical accounts state that during a journey from Taif to Nakhla Valley, Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) stopped at Majid-al-Jinn one night to recite verses of the Holy Quran. A tribe of Jinn from Yemen paused upon hearing the profound recitation of the Holy Quran, attentively listening to Holy Prophets (SAWW). Later on, Jinn embraced Islam, as mentioned in Surah Al-Jinn verses 1-2 of the Holy Quran.

Masjid-al-Jinn is commonly believed to have been constructed in the 1700s, indicating the event of the historic conversion of Jinn to Islam. However, it has been undergoing renovations since the second century of the Hijri calendar.
