About Odisha Development Management Programme (ODMP)

Odisha Development Management Programme (ODMP) is a registered network comprising grassroots NGOs, environmentalists, and academicians, which emerged as a response to the civic movement during and after the devastating post-super-cyclone that struck Odisha in 1999. It began its journey in the year 2001, starting from the Puri district. Initially, 51 NGOs from 11 blocks partnered with ODMP, with support from UNICEF and the Rural Development Department of the Government of Odisha, to implement a water and sanitation program in Puri District.
The program, serving as the district nodal agency, was successfully executed from the financial year 2001-02 to 2003-04 and received appreciation at both the state and national levels for its efforts.
Building on its accomplishments, ODMP expanded its engagement in development and environmental initiatives to other districts of Odisha in 2005. One such initiative is the Nirmal Srikhetra Aviyan, an environmental drive focused on solid and hospital waste management in Puri city. This initiative was supported by UNDP-SGP-GEF, GIZ, and RKS (district headquarters hospital in Puri) and was implemented under the leadership of ODMP.
ODMP’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental conservation has made it a significant player in driving positive change in Odisha.
